Second On The Food Chain....Long Ago |

Primitive dawn breaks over the land of places where the dinosaurs stand. Smoking volcanoes rumble in the night as howls and screams of animal fright. The cavern, a home for safety to dwell inhabited by man, for just a short spell Fires of light for food and warmth glow as the top of the food chain lurks below. The women keeping their children safe as they vigil attentively, sometimes chafe. Men, the warriors away for an easy kill Wearing furs which ward away a chill. T-Rex stalking silently for a new scent of man with spears and clubs, hell bent. Star filled sky shimmering a soft light as the glow of a meteor burns ever bright Millions of years have come, gone away. Lost from the earth, forever to stay. Only the movies and museums now show the way the earth was many years ago. |

Informative, amusing and well written, Barry. Somehow, we never think of ourselves as part of the food chain.....its interesting, that at one time, we really were. Great job! copyright2001 Lyra Nesius |

Except for the fact that a couple hundred million years separated dinosaurs and man, your point is well taken. There was certainly a time when man was the hunted, just as animals are now. Doubt if it would be a fun time to live in, right, Barry? |

'Deer...Michael...Correct!!! I am not sure I would even walk outside if I were second on the list... particularly during the time of the Dinosaurs. |
