You are a delicate little flower Slowly you blossom, your petals unfold You cannot withstand the weather's power The first winter's breath will leave you so cold Your petals would whither yellow to gold Alone and vulnerable...left to die Beauty and splendor no more to behold A victim of season, deaf to your cry That is how nature will kiss you goodbye Her ice-laden lips will leave you to freeze Beneath a forbidding and snowfilled sky Where only your stem survives the next breeze Yet, I have heard as you've silently cried So come with me now, I'll take you inside |

I'm very glad I read this... I do like the twist you've put on the Spenserian sonnet format, the anapestic meter variation made it flow very gracefully.
