Reddish cast which greets the eye awakened on horizons' fringe, spread from nights' deep slumbered sky are dreams as this new day begins. Crystal clear, their purity, reflects inside a warming glow, illumined of this moment I rejoice to hear the crunch of snow. Beneath my feet another world of frozen splendor comes to view. The scope of my imagination cannot hold a candle to such iced perfection, as if were, by gods a decorated cake. It's winter in Bewilderment and time to fish my favorite lake. High adventure, thrills and spills upon the ice, slick, floating free. Perched, intent, on snowy blanket, not 'neath a warm one for me. Drilling holes but, not for black gold as the sun does mount the sky. Shrugging off the cold and questions of those who would ask me why. With these words may you discover what it is that draws me here. As for me I have no questions, everything's been made quite clear. |

Wow, would you like to come here and borrow an ice fishing house? I've never used it, it sits here in a horse stall, waiting for someone to haul it out onto a frozen lake. I enjoyed the poem, and though I've never been ice fishing, I think I understand the crystal clarity of the concept, those pure clean moments with nature. |

Sort of how I feel about the ocean....just an irresistable pull. Great expression, Doc! Always a pleasure! |

Hey Doc, That sounds almost as fun as backpacking into the mountains for snow camping. Great poem and fabulous moments you collect. |

RosePetal, By all means, that's why I wrote this. All are welcome. Close your eyes, watch the bobber, tap, tap, tap, PULL! Nice one! Doc Midnitesun, Exactly, a poem about fishing that never once mentions fish. You obviously do understand. Doc Strubbx, Thirty plus degrees below zero, miles from no-where, you and the elements.Making your own entertainment, knowing that an irresponsible move could plunge you into disaster. Feeling very much alive. To me this is worth writing about. Thanks. Doc Denise, My thanks again dear friend, most surely words as yours would melt the ice and postpone this trip I have planned. Doc Larry C. Thanks. Did some winter camping in my youth. Prefer the warmth of a real fireplace now. Still love that connection with nature though. Doc |
