The web sends her whispers into the wind, "We'll be here forever. We need you." You know it is true, and so you rush in. Do you wish Father Time would speed you? "Welcome. You've got mail!" she'll say. Do you see your destiny near you? Have you noticed your life slipping away? Do you wish Father Time would fear you? Do you long for those sweeter young days? I'm sorry, dear one, they don't know you. Your pining is wasted as life flits away. Do you wish Father Time would slow you? When you're moving too fast in the dim light, Does Memory Lane ever scare you? Time can pass slowly, but never at night. Do you wish Father Time would spare you? As your life swiftly passes you by, As regrets spring out to greet you, As you look back for pain's respite. Do you wish Father Time would heal you? You're not Time's child and he's not your friend. Your days have been numbered for you. Your desperate hunger only speeds your end. Do you think Father Time will ignore you? The web sends her whispers into the wind, "We'll be here forever. We need you." With her siren's call she beckons you in, So that Father Time can bleed you. [This message has been edited by LngJhnAg (01-04-2002 03:26 PM).] |

Wow...this speaks of all escapism addictions I think. (You'd think I'd KNOW, huh?) Thought-provoking, LJ. Enjoyed much. |

An excellent, thought-provoking write, sailor... well done!! I particularly love these lines You're not Time's child and he's not your friend. Your days have been numbered for you. Your desperate hunger only speeds your end. Do you think Father Time will ignore you? They remind me of that old saying "this is life, not a dress rehearsal"... so we'd better get it right. *S* Like I said... I like it much. *S* Great work! |

Long John, Janet talks of the irony of it all. Well I have just had the lecture of my life from a dear friend on this very subject! Do you think maybe he is right? Wise words, thanks. Dee I wish you every happiness and may you always have the best of the good things in life. a brand |

And to think, I almost didn't take the time to read this evening's posts! Imagine that! "Resurgence" by one of our newest poets, Ladyhawke, is also about time, though not necessarily internet related time. Well, that's all the time I have for tonight. Good write! Mike This is just splendid!, (she says as she's off to Staples to buy a new ink cartridge.) Very clever and true. Time does slip away when you're distracted by a human-like box that you have control over, or that has control over you. Anyway i wrote to my complaining children: Silence fills the rooms and halls And I alone among these walls A moment’s peace to contemplate Of here and now, and not of fate The silence is to me a sound A heartbeat’s pulse that firmly pounds Reminding me the endless drone That I am truly home alone And when I see my empty plight I scramble to turn on that light I hit the web and there I sit And that is just the end of it More hours there than I predicted But I swear I’m not addicted This is in jest. but it makes me wonder if I'm missing all the sunsets I write about. Your poem hits home - hard Very true perspective and vwry well written Liz |

Ah, as you so cleverly point out, and as Lady Santos has expounded upon, we need to delegate our time alloted very carefully... so, Lady Santos, view the sunsets, please, but then...then... in the dark of night long after glow's twilight, come to us with your pen and speak of ever-then give a thought, leave a ponder let our hearts peacefully wander over shores and shoals of ever-more please, come tap upon our door Join with Sy, our Sailor, and 'Deer, too stir us all a poetry stew leave your words, with cheese and wine while you endeavor to entwine so I may view in small wee hours soft penned words your heart has scoured so I might learn at your door how to write, of ever-more... |

Thank you all for seeing in this what I refused to see in a time before I wrote it. Father Time may bleed us, but we supply the razor. Liz - Thank you for dedicating a poem to me through your response. I hope your life finds peace in all you do. Sunshine - Your poem is great! You should not have hidden it here. Again, thank you one and all. |
