If what you say is what you mean
and what you mean is not be seen
how do you know what to call it
do have have tools to install it?

but the meanings come from words too!
their letters chosen were once askew
then came the order of how to pronounce
like a cat you looked for reason to pounce.

There are words for every object
single deeds for every subject
new words are constantly contrived from the old
whileolder ones, in disuse, break loose from the fold.

I see dictionaries everyday
I work with words in many ways
I like to put them in different orders when I can
and find new meanings as I sift my earth's sands.

I really enjoyed this, Martin

Isn't it amazing how words develop new meanings and then just when you think you have a handle on it.. they change and become something else again .. it's enough to make you a little crazy.. lmao.

This is a wonderful poem, Martin.  I have always found etymology and the evolution of words fascinating.  One reason that English is such a difficult language is that so many of our words have multiple meanings.

Madame Chip,

My cat had it easier with just varying the tonality of his meow..lol, right on..that's what makes the learning so challenging

Nan,

Thanks for clicking in, Looking up a word makes me feel that I might be giving an "archaic" meaning at times, but then I try to use a more recent dict
