Sonnet For Balladeer

Let the waves of his artistry resound
through hourglass sands of poetic retreat
'tis a divine breath of treasure that's found
in storyteller of gifted elite

He is the man with rare golden finger
one that leads the soul through introspection
to swing on his sage branches which linger
that he is a painter of perfection

Let not the tides of time erase his voice
nor lessen the mighty sword of his quill
that our eyes and mind shall sail in rejoice
to find love and verity in his spill

The beauty of his sea fills hearts with tear
awestruck in the wisdom of Balladeer

By Melissa P. Monette

~
This is the first English/Shakespearean sonnet that I have written
and I hope that it is up to par.

And, thank you so much my dear 'Deer for your friendship
and for guiding me in the right direction of poetry
~

Well, it's official I'm addicted to sonnets now, even though this is only my first

Thank you so much to all who replied, I'm so glad that I was able to actually write a sonnet in correct form.
And yes, Michael is one heck of an inspiration!   It's only because of his teachings and patience that I understand proper use of meter and flow.  So thank you once again cutie patootie
And thanks to all who have supported me over the years~
