Definitely not your average guest
he comes to you on nightly quests;
you open your door to his hollow knocks
and he whisks by at the midnight clock!

You ask him who he wants to see
and feel the urgency to take a pee
from under the hooded shroud appears a void
as you stare blankly, there's no face to avoid.

He knows when and where to strike
your table guests feel no urgency for flight
but there must be someone whose heart will tick its last
the walking cloak has appeared to complete his task.

Some poets find these topics morbid
others think that I must be going sordid
if I had to worry about what to write for them
ha! I'd rather wait for a visit from our friend

You are right...we write what we feel and what we need...it's not as important that it touches others as much as it heals us!!!

Sea,

why wait just for once a year?

Brian,

but that doesn't mean it gets through the
censors though

This is a great poem, Martin.

I love the spooky black humor!

Lyra

It's important not to take life too seriously, I think
