I stand naked in moonlight,
me and my nation of memories.
Braving the cool indifference
of distant city lights, as gently
mocking as nostalgia...
I am not so much guilty as innocent
of all good intentions i've discarded,
(Spoken, promised, in the face
of a sunrise not yet seen)
in searching for a wealth
far beyond the shores of my birth.
Leaving loves and a thousand ties; seeking
golden trumpets to destroy a hundred Jerichos,
coming home. Ah, wishes, book-ended in cold
realities, still finding faith with sleeping,
And so you'll find me, yet standing,
still on my way to buying lottery tickets
for an option to ride a flying carpet home.
Waiting I give birth, dying, to greater longings,
always wondering if the road ahead
would do nothing else but bloom with
the same flower...
Shadow-touched, silvered crown of thorns
etching flesh and soul with bloody petals of
hope...and naked in an American
moonlight.

Youve got some superb lines and expressions in this, also excellent imagery, and creative metaphor and analogy.

This is amazing poetry to read for inspiration but amazing to read for anything!
You obviously have a grasp of imagery and phrasing. Welcome.  Keep Writing.
