Shimmering visions of tranquility
Reflect on waters of Summer green
A smorgasboard of beauty
Varying shades of blue in between

A seagull skims the mirrored water
In search of a morsel or two
As I sit here and absorb this paradise
Soaking up this spectacular view

I come here so very often
As I find it such an inspirational place
And I can be assured that when I leave
I'll be leaving with a smile on my face

Many times I come here alone
Always with my pen in hand
It is the conductor of my emotions
And will orchestrate my heart on command

I spy some pieces of driftwood
Washed up from the night before
The footprints of last nights lovers
Have been erased by the tide once more

A warm breeze softly brushes my face
As I sit here on the sand and write
Maybe I'll stay here until sunset
To witness the coming of the night

Such a perfect place for romance
Beneath a spectacular starry sky
Another beautiful day is now over
Heralded by the seagull's lonely cry

How very peaceful is this paradise
Here I could dream my life away
A totally stress free environment
This scene ever changing each day

A beautiful poem with great imagery. Sigh... I must make time real soon to spend some time at the beach... thanks for reminding me.

Sue, you really have me yearning for the ocean blue and sandy beaches with this one! It really does sound like an inspirational place. In California, I had two such places, I used to call them my thinking and meditation spots. Funny, I almost never wrote poetry after visiting those spots, but would either paint or make mobiles.

Ah, it does sound lovely, I think we all need a place like this to retreat to sometimes. What a great place to go and write…lucky you Sue.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?
