Squirrels huddle under balcony boards in the chill, stray pets nervously nose the wintery air snowflakes first fall as minor dustings winds pick up and hustles the white into drifts afternoon stillness turns to traffic snarls yearly storms stay among us as do hot cups of cocoa to keep the cold away. I think of escaping gifts of winter dumps from the skies, when they fall in blankets. chipmunks have gathered their trove of nuts adult rabbit's fur protect their young in burrows snow starts to accumulate in abandoned farmland furrows I think of winter chills when I see snowfalls, stray pets nose the air in anticipation of what's to come. Isn't it interesting how wild animals can always sense the coming of storms. Maybe they are better at listening to God where than we are. Thanks for sharing your beautiful poetic jewel. ![]() -newell Sharing God's Love through perfectlovepoetry.com Copyright: 2002 Newell Elsworth Usher [This message has been edited by Silver Streak (01-31-2002 05:24 PM).] |
