filthy creatures
everyone says so
yet
here he is
in front of me
fastidiously preening
each leg
each antenna
each wing

rubbing his toes together
stroking his paper filaments
of flight

is it just because
they walk about
on feces
and dead meat

is it because
they like carrion
and lay maggots
white and crawly

can a creature
that cares so much
about cleanliness
be all bad?
be only something
for sticky paper
spirals
hanging
from the ceiling?

What good is a fly?
Go ask a frog,
“Ribbit” ;o}

my frog loves flies...but he love crickets more.
