Secret Lover

You and I never meet by light of day,
And when we meet in moonlight, we’ve nothing much to say.
But in the heated dark we often lay,
When imps of passion come to play.

You and I share no common thread-
We leave the sweet ‘I love you’s’ unsaid-
And never hold hands over breaking bread.
But we share untold fantasies in an unmade bed.

When she is gone to visit, and he is gone to work,
You’ll be outside my window, on a silent lurk.
Pardon the sour twist as my lip upwards quirks-
I admit it-I’m enamored of a jerk.

Nan

Dear Startime,
I can't help it. I meant it to be all passion and suchlike-a Marsha poem you know. But the more I read what I wrote, the more I thought 'what a jerk!'

Dear Floria,
There you are, laughing at my pain. How could you?

Dear Noah,
Thanks-just a bit lighter than I've been doing lately. Glad you liked it.

Dear Serenity,
Thanks-yes, sometimes I can come to my senses before I even lose them.

Dear Juanita,

Nan,
at least you found out before you got too...ahem involved.

Dear Raven Snow,
Glad you enjoyed it-now it's your turn. I'll look out for your poems.

Dear Kethry,
Well, involved is probably not the word we're looking for. But let's just don't look too hard, or we might find it.

This is so well done, Nan...and unfortunately...is often the way real life turns out.

Dear Lyra,
Loved the picture of the frog. I made this poem up out of whole cloth. There's not a word of truth in it. I started out to write a 'Marsha' poem, you know, steamy and sultry. But I'm just not a steamy, sultry type, and the more I thought about it, the more I had to laugh.

Nan, you are too much. I loved this and kept wondering when it was going to get mushy. I'm glad it didn't. I liked it just the way it was written. Can't take but so much mush myself. Cheryl

Now that's a unique love poem.  LOL, I was expecting it to really heat up, and then you threw us a giant ice cube at the end.
BRAVO!!

Dear amusemi,(I love your name), and Cheryl, and midnitesun and Duncan and Dee,
Thanks guys! I love hearing from you. I really really tried to get steamy. Honest. But the more I thought of things to write the sillier I felt. I guess I'm not one of nature's Lilliths after all. sigh.

I love the phrase, "fantasies in an unmade bed."  It brought forth a mental picture.
I guess that the reason the jerks are so good in an unmade bed is because they have had a lot of practice.

Dear Shirl,
I figure they're not nearly as good as they think they are. But since that applies to men in general (oh my! Did I say that?) about just about everything (oh dear! now I'm in for it!) I guess it goes without saying.
