Telling lies

"And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." NIV Matthew 18:3

Boo ho! What a zoo
To cover stew
Grown ups, awry.

Should children ask
Of truth alas
We just reply, why?

My! Who told you that?
That awful brat
Why that's a lie.

To silence small cries
Tell them more lies
Make believe, pie.

Children are so smart
Who breaks their heart?
Steals trust and why?

Is it just because
We're Santa Claus
One big sweet guy?

Telling lies?

Dear Newell,
Kids know the difference between lying and play-pretending. Santa is a big play-pretend, and I know that my kids enjoyed it. They also know when you tell a lie, and you should never lie to a kid, they don't let you get away with it. Ever.

Newell darling boy absolutely first class writing, and you’re so right there’s never any excuse for lies. Whatever color they are they are not acceptable. Yes you can tell people the truth and you should start when they are children. Fairy stories are all very well they are after all a part of growing up, but they should know the difference between lies and truth.

Which is why I never lie, it’s difficult to do and you need a great memory, which I’ve not got.

Utterly fabulous piece of writing You know I love it don’t you? It’s outstanding

I know what you mean, Juanita. And all they are trying to do is learn truth. They believe what we tell them and copy everything we do. We are given to them by God as guardian angels. Why do we then lie to them?

Children early on understand trust as they are designed to trust the ones who care for them.  God forgive us for the painful lessons that follow, that trust can be misplaced.

You're poems captures this cvery well indeed and the child's voice just makes it more effective.

I have always felt that when a person lies to another, they cheat themselves
out of more than they'll ever know.   The joy of a sincere feeling between two people.
