It is a struggle sometimes,
Just to find a good enough reason to be human.
To Love.
When it is in the trenches that you belong,
Like some prodigal son,
Knee deep in all the blood
from so many broken hearts.

In hand a gun.
With a pocket full of insults to spend
on their hit and run.

There's too much disease,
and infections to please,
As you carefully step between the rotting corpses
of all those shattered dreams.

Where are the surgeons?
The Generals?
The Mapmakers?
Is my heart a continent to carve up?
Should I surf a blood beach?
And ignore the litter of lost souls who are too
easily swept out to sea
by the greedy undertow of selfish want.
And are only rescued if they can pay the toll.

Our bloods' on hire purchase.
With each and every breath an instalment for a hope
never paid for in full.

Oh to die for a cause,
Instead of being found half dead on the laundry floor of bankers,
and politicians,
and business men.
That intimately know too well
each others' smell.

But without so much as a beg parden,
Or even a leave of the room,
They all just sit in a smile and hand you
a broom,
While they ice skate down your back.

Life owes us all a living!
Not the pornagraphic dignity stripping
of flesh with no other choice.
Mute slaves to the dollar,
and the man with the luxuary voice.

We choose between evils,
and congratulate corruption with trophies.

mauddib, strong observations. Fortunately life on earth is short. Eternal life is forever. Reckon maybe we're just in a testing stage? Boot camp? Thanks for sharing.

this deserves another reread mauddib, as Bush takes a  smiling photo with his new friend in Afghanistan, and that picture is far from putting everyone conscience at rest about solving terrorism around the globe.
