All of my earthly posessions Are contained here in this bag The covering I have at night Is a disused old piece of rag The pigeons they are friends of mine I see them circling in the sky They aren't so quick to judge me Unlike the people passing by My home may be under a bridge Or underneath an old oak tree Oh how all you businessmen in your fancy suits Wish you didn't have to look at me I can see the horror on your face As you look at me with disgust I bet you wish a strong wind would come And blow me away like dust But when all is said and done We're of the same human race you see Just because you have more money Doesn't mean you're better than me A good heart cannot be bought It is worth much more than gold It's value is certainly priceless It is something that can never be sold So put yourself in my shoes And walk around for a day And please make sure you remember That I never wanted it this way Suetang [This message has been edited by Suetang (01-26-2002 04:06 PM).] |

Suetang, a powerful write on poverty and homelessness. You did good Kethry Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind. Unknown |

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Sue, I couldn't agree with you more, this is so sad but well-written! (big hugggsssss) I pray that we can all learn to understand each other and share compassion with one another and reach out to those who need it the most with love! (kiss on cheek) God Bless your loving heart, sweet friend, we all love you so much, my prayers are with all these who live this way! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sue, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton |

I can't remember the movie only the song along these lines~~ 'feed the birds, topins a bag' It was the woman's compassionate heart that touched me, much like your poem. I enjoyed the feelings of self content in your words. |

A good reminder Sue, that we should not be too quick to judge. I often wonder, when I see people like this, just what tragedies in their lives have brought them to this place. It is so sad, to see people suffer through this indignity. If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please? |

Isn't it sad how people judge others by how they seem, rather than by seeing them..... even after knowing better....well said words here....thanks for sharing.... |

Thank you all so very much for your lovely words. Blues Serenade - the song you were trying to think of was from the children's movie "Mary Poppins" with Julie Andrews. Take care......Sue Suetang |

Sue, Hot topic. Just had a homeless guy show up at church yesterday. I invited him in and had quite a visit. Got him setup with some social service contacts and some money for food. Fascnitating to watch how other people get so uncomfortable so quick. Excellent write. Thanks. |
