Is a poet’s voice one Indifferent in tone Emotionless in time Void of deep emotion I think not Most of the great thinkers of any time Have written prose In verse so different that they questioned Their surrounding images of light To ponder sometimes the simplest of things In the mind quest for salvation In the inner peace of verse Challenged quicksand mires the mind In mists of haze that blinds In tortures of self inflicted creativity The poets mind creeps In a slow motion of a flow of lava Hot thoughts penetrate the mind existence To ponder a line In white-out it keeps being reformed The foundation has solidified a stanza The magic joining of spells of verse Keep intertwining in whirlwinds Storming out sometimes so soft As to brush your mind But sometimes so hard it cries The realization that no minds are the same For they will not create or read the same Will take you down a trail of solitude For the verse is only for you to interpret And only then join the views of others In harmony of creative critiques So will time see the same scenery Probably but by then the wrinkles Will have created different reflections Critiquing in a different timeframe And if it should stand on it own Then you created a masterpiece in any time D.Lester Young (01/25/02) Tuscaloosa, AL Copyright © D.Lester Young (White Eagle poetry) |
