Rose

Royal and stately and lovely the rose
Alluring and fragile, with petals exposed
Innocent, wild, a maker of bliss
Touched by a delicate angel soft kiss

Dewdrops of diamonds on velvet of red
By raindrops of pleasure the roses are fed
The sunlight unwraps each pillow soft page
Unfolding the fragrance that lives age to age

Love blooms from buds of a delicate rose
In innocent softness, it silently grows

I am very new to the board and still feeling my way around. You write so beautifully and I always look forward to reading your words. I love to garden and this poem makes me long for Spring and my roses.  Thank you for sharing and brightening a cold winter day.  Marti

Liz this was beautiful and the metaphor of the rose being compared to a delicate rose I know all too well, and I have to add to this ... watch out for the thorns! hehe

Liz, your sonnets always make me sigh - this is gorgeous and your wise words speak volumes
You truly are "professionally" talented - you really should consider getting your poems published!

Take care,
Melissa~
