Peace

Filled is my heart with the friendships I’ve made
Fragile it’s contents so carefully laid
Hardened the walls from the debts I have paid
Mellowed is trust that a love once betrayed

Bright is the spirit’s most glorious dreams
Enriched by the aura of God’s glowing beams
Deep are its caverns from life’s flowing streams
Calm are the waters now, strengthened, the seams

Sorrow came out of the visions I sought
Golden the lessons so bitterly taught
Enriched is the soul for the battles I’ve fought
Love and affection, the treasures they wrought

I believed I had tread every bridge to be crossed
And yet what was gained, is so easily lost
The seasons of sorrow in truth never cease
But they’re always diminished by one’s inner peace

Thank you so much.  This poem kind of put everything that has been going on in my head at rest.  Very beautiful poetry. I could really feel "the calming of the storms"

Liz--You share much in this uplifting poem...so many lessons taught painfully before peace.

Liz incredible writing of what many can identify with.  That inner tenacity, believing in yourself, and a lot of faith will always overpower anything thrown at us in life, and funny how we are always stronger and smarter for it!  Great piece.

I'm still searching for this kind of peace...you express it so softly and beautifully.  You're one graceful poet

Take care,

(big hugggssssssss) Yes, yes, finding peace in one-self is the most beautiful way to believe in ourselves and to embrace the world, for creating peace all starts in bringing atonement to ones own heart! (kiss on cheek) We all love you so much, sweet friend, you are a delight to us all! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Elizabeth, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Wonderful, wonderful poem. We are all searching for that inner peace.

"Enriched is the soul for the battles I’ve fought
Love and affection, the treasures they wrought ... "

Thank you for these words. A  vitally important life lesson for us all and one I try hard to explain to my children.

I  love your poems.  Marti

Liz, this poem is such a wonderful work of art, both in the message and the polished poetic presentation.

"The seasons of sorrow in truth never cease
But they’re always diminished by one’s inner peace"

That is the most comforting thought of all.
