Writing for a purpose of trying to create a reflection before life’s audience My presence is before you Ripped with the winds of time Worn away with experience Drained of virginality Layered with doubts Silenced by reflections Seen in mirrors of words Giving meaning to my existence Testing the waters at different stages of life Each one offering a different view Much like the Stations of the Cross At each my writing grows in depth Never perfect but seeking to be Weaknesses create flaws to patch So my quilt becomes darned with experience But unique in the beauty of emotions As I offer time to see within My handiwork of frustrated needs Some will blast it And throw it on the floor With the filth of misunderstanding Remaining shallow and very cold While others reflect in warmth of it And try it on Gaining depth within their own mind In a fireplace called understanding It is time for my quilt to be remembered Before the trash takes it away For in its imperfection Lies the beauty of words Being human to change While some will see it as just the same thing Others will see the magic within Of a person with such a heart That he had to become A poet winding thoughts through time In threads of memories D.Lester Young (01/22/02) Tuscaloosa, AL Copyright © D.Lester Young (White Eagle poetry) |

As I offer time to see within My handiwork of frustrated needs Some will blast it And throw it on the floor With the filth of misunderstanding Remaining shallow and very cold While others reflect in warmth of it And try it on Gaining depth within their own mind In a fireplace called understanding ...... Others will see the magic within Of a person with such a heart That he had to become A poet winding thoughts through time In threads of memories ~sighing~ at the truth and beauty of these words Maureen |
