The Artist’s Loft The skylight let clouds into a room canvas bound bedazzled with color dripped and glorious eye sound Where do I go I wondered when the path leads past the gate into the eye of mystery where there is no rebate If you don’t want to stay just look away he said with a twinkle coming jauntily from his disarray Humor lay there waiting to be stepped on in a splat of sable to see the meaning was my question the answer not the palette on the table I saw the blue in one small sky that had been overwhelmed by a red dress and especially with three eyes the quiet room was a mess I counted shirts in his closet three where a portrait of his daughter held court so somber in her chair her feet on floor close the door on such a humble fort For in the opening of the door this artist’s loft packed with meaning's twisted tapestry I found a piece of personal that hurt to see the painter’s heart was hanging with shirts three [This message has been edited by Martie (01-21-2002 04:50 PM).] |

Martie, I could almost, almost smell the paint in this one. And the ending just wrapped it all up. Kathleen--(Kay) |

Oh Martie, I was right there with you, and saw the three shirts, and felt embarrassed as though we had intruded on the artist's personal space. Your imagery here is wonderful! Excellent write! ~Hugs, Nancy~ ~Love is the realization of a beautiful dream~ |

I saw the blue in one small sky that had been overwhelmed by a red dress and especially with three eyes the quiet room was a mess I counted shirts in his closet three where a portrait of his daughter held court so somber in her chair her feet on floor close the door on such a humble fort For in the opening of the door this artist’s loft packed with meaning's twisted tapestry I found a piece of personal that hurt to see the painter's heart was hanging with shirts three =========================== You just blow me away sometimes... I read this earlier...and was so taken in and enveloped by the images, the detail and the things I read between the lines..... that I didnt even notice it rhymed..ME? not noticing rhymes? See how you do me in ![]() ![]() We wish ourselves beautiful ... we cry in the night. |

OK, my girl, I came back and read this not once, but three times; the first time I saw the loft in France, the wine bottles over turned, the smoky air, the smell of paint and turpentine... the second time I saw a frustrated man fighting very hard to paint his soul, no matter come what may... the third time... I saw Martie... |

The blending of colors on your palette is outstanding. Lots of ways to interpret this. I have already seen it differently, twice over and still in awe. And that is the beauty, is it not? |

I enjoyed the thoughts you provoked here. I started to look around my place. What a mess it is. I could write two novels out of it. Each object sometimes creating several visions. Blessings and warm wishes. [This message has been edited by D.Lester Young (01-25-2002 08:06 AM).] |

Oh you know I love art! I read this differently again. I saw you standing in front of a painting that was inviting, and wanted you to come in. You saw various things in the painting including the artist's heart, while searching for its meaning. You know my imagination, but I absolutely loved this whether it was straight forward or abstract, either way I read it, the poem was fantastic Martie. <font face="monotype corsiva">~* Carpe' Diem *~ |

For in the opening of the door this artist’s loft packed with meaning's twisted tapestry I found a piece of personal that hurt to see the painter’s heart was hanging with shirts three This is so very well imaged, Martie...that I felt as if I were standing right there in that artist's loft, experiencing that piece of personal. You painted a beautiful poetic picture! ![]() copyright2002 Lyra Nesius |

Your words took me straight to the scene of that loft Martie. What wonderful images you convey in the writing of it If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please? |

My hands were wanting to touch the palette and the brushes, and to gather up the scent of oils and turpentine. But the portrait of your artist was so vivid, as was his daughter, that I felt I saw that twinkle within the disarray. through yours, my eyes became the fourth pair in the room. |
