Wednesday’s Child My Birthday Poem There’s a saying that Monday’s child is fair of face But I wasn’t a Monday’s child so that’s not the case Now grace is the gift Tuesday’s child so they say But I’m not of Tuesday’s kin so its grace no way Then Wednesday’s child who is full of much woe That my dearest friends might explain my teary flow Yes I’m a Wednesday’s child but I don’t like to cry I do and often prefer to heave a joyful satisfied sigh If I’d have known before I would have chosen anew I would have chosen Sunday, well, I ask wouldn’t you? The child it’s said that was born on the Sabbath day Had it all, forever bonny, charming, good and often gay Gay meaning happy, healthy, cheerful, and so bright I can do gay I can shine through the darkest of night But happily smiling I think is what would suit me And I’m sure all my friends and family would agree I wouldn’t have chosen Thursday it just isn’t me Thursday’s child always travelling moving constantly I might have opted for Friday it was a good day Loving and giving I’d have preferred that anyway Wednesday’s child with its depressed woeful state Why did Wednesday have to be my decreed fate Saturday’s child working hard its whole life through Well I pity Saturday’s child come on now don’t you? So who wouldn’t chose Sunday as their day of birth Who wouldn’t like to be given the gift of much worth? Sunday’s children all shining with HIS blessed light Always smiling and happy always good and bright Wouldn’t I make the perfect Sunday child my friends? I could be all those things and be happy without end I would be sunny and sparkling, shining and ever true In fact my darling friend I would be just like you Marsha To give light to them that sit in darkness..... to guide our feet into the way of peace St John ch2 v1 |

Aha! That's the secret...I too am a Wednesday's child...and now we know! We may be "full of woe..." but woe are they who don't allow us play! Happy Birthday, Marsha! |

Birthday wishes are very magic...for they are made of stardust and a special kind of wonder. Have a wonderful day and a perfect year Mushy Girl! You make this world and Passions a brighter place for all of us! ~Magical Hugs, Nancy~ ~Time has cast a spell on you, |

Marsha...Happy Birthday...and I think your poem is cool...but its wrong! I always thought that it went this way: Monday's child is fair of face Tuesday's child is full of grace Wednesday's child is loving and giving Thursday's child must work for a living Friday's child is full of woe Saturday's child has far to go And the child who was born on the sabbath day, will be.....charming, witty, bright and gay. So if you were born on a Wednesday, then you are loving and giving....and I think that really explains you, Marsha. I was born on a Thursday, and I have always had to work for anything I got. copyright2002 Lyra Nesius |

Happy Birthday Marsha!! What a sweet poem! My daughter is a Wednesday child, and the sound of her laughter can take the "woe" away in a flash. Just as your poetry can make us all sigh. Best Wishes. Chris Life is not measured by breaths you take, but by moments that take your breath away. |

Happy birthday Marsha. Hope it's been a good one. Now I'm going to have to go and find out what day of the week I was born on, and figure out where I fit in, in your rhyme. If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please? |

Dear Marsha, So this explains it. We're Wednesday sisters. I was also born on a Wednesday, and the first time I heard that Nursery Rhyme I was quite disappointed with my fate. This is a good poem for the Wednesday set, I may take it for my own. Nan |

They had calendars when you were born? Whoda thunk???? Whatever day you were born was the luckiest day of the week...just because you were born on it! |

I am sure you are not the only Wednesday child that disguises it with a sparkling of Sunday. Whatever the mix, you do it well and add so much to the forum, so I wish you a very Happy Birthday! ~* CARPE' DIEM *~ |
