I still am yet to find you I've already searched the whole world through But I'm not willing to give up Until I'm able to find you Australia is where I'm now searching A place known as "the lucky country" Maybe you're with the kookaburras Or with a koala up a tree Will I find you near a billabong Or on walkabout near Ayers Rock I hope you're not being pursued By a massive 10 foot croc Maybe you're with the aborigines Learning to play the didgeridoo Oh I wish this long journey was over So I could end my search for you Who's that sitting under the gum tree With a cold green stubby in hand Tending to the barbie Perched on the rich brown sand It's the one that I've been seeking How can I capture him with my heart? Maybe I'll offer him a vegemite sandwich So that he'll never want to part * * * To all my overseas friends and readers, I must explain a few Aussie words and their meanings : kookaburra = an Australian bird billabong = an old water hole walkabout = means to travel to nowhere in particular croc = crocodile didgeridoo = hand carved instrument made by the aborigines stubby = a can of beer barbie = barbeque vegemite = a yeast spread used on toast or in a sandwich, the color and consistency of boot polish, most visitors from abroad can't stand it - most certainly an acquired taste I hope you all enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it.........Sue Suetang |

Hi Sue, I am the Australian friend that Mysteria (Sharon) speaks of ... we have spoken before ... You should have seen the faces pulled just at the SMELL of Vegemite ! ... she refused to even taste it ... I left it with her, but somehow, I think it would have been tossed out before my plane had even taken off *L* ... This was a neat poem, we are indeed blessed with being here in this beautiful land we call home ... smiles to you, Andy |

Sue, A search worth pursuing. Now about the terms...I got them all but vegemite and on that I was close. But as a born and raised total non-carnivore it cracked me up to miss just that one! Too funny. Carry on with that search and the best of luck, eh. |

Hey Sue, From an Aussie girl down under, you have captured the spirit so well. And vegimite and cheese on a fresh bread sandwich is a taste you just have to try. Loved this, it should be published in the tourist industry... Well Done. Hugs from and Aussie 4 you. Fee Expressions, |

Thank you one and all for your great comments and I'm so glad that you understood what I was going on about. The Australian language can sometimes be a language all its own! Fee - I have to agree with you wholeheartedly that vegemite and cheese sandwiches are second to none - I love them!! Take care......Sue Suetang |
