Deep in the heart

Forgive me
if I don’t dwell
on migratory birds
or the displacement
of hundreds of people
in Afghanistan.
My mind
is filled with
prayer
and hope …
even fear …
tho’ I try to ignore that
feeling.
I pray
for all our boys and girls
over there
and I fear for their safety.
But most of all
I pray
for the boy
I watched take his first steps.
The boy
I taught to play football
And baseball.
The boy
that was
on the dean’s list,
a member of the FCA,
a respectful,
honorable,
brave,
and loving boy.
Now a Captain,
a leader of men.
He leads
by being the example
of duty,
honor,
respect,
country,
and he will lead
his soldiers,
and His children,
back home,
safely.

(tears fall down my cheeks) So wonderfully expressed, sweet friend, this one is so beautiful and poignant! (big hugggsssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all wish him the greatest hope and love and may he come back soon to again love you and his family always! And because of a father who was the right kind of example he is the man he is...My heart felt this poem very deeply. I send my prayers on behalf of his parents and this son who is doing what his country needs him to do. **big hugs**

A heartfelt and very touching poem that brought tears to my eyes.

Interloper..first, good to see you here on the blue pages once again.

Most certainly my thoughts and prayers go out to all the young brave people who are in harms way, but, I had no idea you had a son...over there. This is a beautiful and heartfelt write, filled with much love and pride for your son. Wonderfully penned my friend. Of course your son...the Captain... over there, will be included in my prayers, that he stays well....stays safe.

As a father of 5, 4 of whom are sons and the eldest is in High School, this poem touched me as I consider what the future may hold for each of them. I pray should they be called or choose to serve that i would be able to handle it with the grace, dignity and pride that this poem conveys.

From the heart, and straightforward. You always write words of love, and the love you feel for your son shines through in this. War is not nice, to humans and other living things. May this madness end soon, and may your son stay safe, and return in Peace. And may the whole of humanity come to its senses and stop making fences that separate our hearts. Peace to you.

Interloper, as they are growing we watch and help pick them up from many different things. And then they are grown and even though we want to pick them up, we are no longer able. This is a feeling we don't expect when they were little and we held them. Oh, I pray for you and your Captain son. Thank for sharing him with us. ME

For some reason, I believe you taught this young man by example alone...he will be fine. Why? Because he needs to come back to lead here, as well...

That's what it all boils down to, interloper. Wars, even between nations, are made up of individual soldiers and each soldier is the most important thing on earth to some one, especially parents. This is expression at its finest...

My prayers are with you and your family and every other family who has a son or daughter fighting for their country. When we think of war, we forget sometimes that each individual is so important to some body and this somebody happens to be extremely important and loved by you. May God keep him safe and get him home soon.

My heart goes out to you and all those who have loved ones serving their countries over-seas. I pray for their safety and their speedy return home to the countries who's freedom they are ultimately defending. Thankyou for sharing a piece of your heart with us.

Cherish the good memories past and look forward to the adventure called Tomorrow.
