Those high school sweetheart days we loved, we fit together hand and glove. We sang in sunsets spilling gold I still hear the songs we wrote. We kissed behind the schoolyard fence your searching lips were so intense and our hearts skipped and whirled, oh you were my only girl. You mothered me just like a boy I smothered you just like a toy. We were young and living dreams falling into destiny. In the heat we'd sing a toast to King and Taylor's lyric rotes, we sang two heart harmony and in the chorus our souls would meet. One on one a sculpture carved together we were modern art. A model for the world to see singing change with words of peace. We were clean and music deep pure like moonlight on the sea. We lived the fairy tales of hope the brand new home the future wrote. We built great plans for future tasks working on our dreams to last. Those growing years we spent together we thought they'd go on forever. But the nature of the boy singing songs telling stories opened doors beyond the stage here tommorrow gone today. When the praises came to rest I tried to fight them with my best but the change from boy to man often blankets older plans. The years upon your throbbing breast have stayed with me at heart no less. But I booked away to other spoils the freedom from our midnight oil. Now I sing the tavern shift a folksey rover with a gift. But there's a lost and unheard verse that can't explain our love and work So I still play us but there's no you, just smoke filled rooms and jaundice moods. When it comes down to the truth there was no gamble in our youth. Swept away by rushing tides we filled the needs we craved inside. But changes flow from buried streams and surface in the thoughts we breed. So now it's over past the end In the chorus we sing again. We were young and living dreams falling into destiny. In the heat we'd sing a toast to King and Taylor's lyric rotes. We sang two heart harmony and in the chorus our souls still meet. © Eric True This is a rewrite! The role of poetry is to utter the un-utterable; to open up spaces of consciousness and resistance; to language oppressions; to re-language historie [This message has been edited by ethome (01-16-2002 01:24 PM).] |

'We sang two heart harmony and in the chorus our souls still meet.' So beautiful, Eric. The entire song is wonderful, and trips down memory lane always bring both smiles and tears. But that line about heart harmony is fantastic. Wish I had written that one! |

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh my gosh, this is soooooooo beautiful but yet tinged with sadness too. Memories are such precious things, and I have very few I ever want to hold true, for I still dream of finding happiness in life and living this kind of love! (big hugggsssss) Memories are very precious, sweet friend, always hang on to them, all the way from your high school sweetheart to here and now! May the beauty of love always echo in your heart, sweet friend, we all love you so much! (sigh) God Bless You! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Eric, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton |
