I arise out of my bed At the very crack of dawn As the sun creeps over the meadow And I stretch and begin to yawn The aroma of freshly brewed coffee Along with eggs and bacon too I now stumble down for breakfast I could almost eat for two No time to sit and ponder There's so much for me to do Such a big list of chores to be done Half for me and half for you Seven baby goslings Have arrived this brand new day Tucked amongst their mother's feathers Is where they all now lay The week old baby foal Has more confidence in his stride When my chores have all been done Upon his mother I will ride So many times I've dreamt Of life down on a farm Just like Fern in Charlotte's Web I'd spend my day around the barn From high up in the rafters I'll be perched upon a beam With the swallows flying around me So very busy do they seem I'll inhale the wonderful aromas Of this farm where I reside As I look down from my vantage point Such a wonderful place to hide But as the day draws to a close I must return to my real home There'll be no barnyard where I'm going No animals free to roam Just the bustle of the city Will await on my return But I'll have so many fond memories Of the farm life I now yearn Suetang |

This is beautiful and of course, us city slickers need the farm life to make us humble This poem reminds me of my friend, Wilbur(hello! if you read this) |

Sounds like a lovely day for you Sue. Yes, the farm life is a nice change from the pace of the city If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please? |

I enjoyed this.I have went from city slicker to farm girl and let me tell you they both have pros and cons.I urge you to spend some time on a farm, it's great. I choose to be in between. I live in the country but close enough that it doesn't take forever to get to the city. Peaches |

Thank you all for your lovely words. I guess I was daydreaming when I wrote this and I guess life gets so hectic sometimes that you wish you could take some time out from the world and escape to a place far less hectic. This is my idea of the perfect getaway. Take care......Sue Suetang |
