Memories of the past and friends? |

Where have all my friends now gone? The ones as me who so did long The best of days, life’s key and door The last one left, they’re here no more What happened to the dreams we had When we were young and I a lad? Did they somehow just disappear? Those times have passed and seem unclear Where have all my friends now gone With who I’d dance and sing a song? Do they all think the same as I? Do they all live or did they die? I ponder many questions, of my past so long ago But years they pass so quickly; before you even know And names have faded as each face along my trek of time To lose them, such a tragedy and somehow such a crime For many, memories ever last; for me they faded fast As youth of many years ago, flew by and didn’t last I’m sitting here in ponder about what might have been Wishing that my recall, more memories could have seen |

It's that thing called "change", which mixes with that other thing, called "life", and there you have it...everyone is blown by the winds... thank you for this... |

Dear Sunshine, nice to hear from you my friend, I was just trying to think back and found that my memory has faded. I suppose that some need to retain their early memories where others just go with the flow. Thank you so much for your reply. Sincerely Rick |

Ah Rick ... I do so love your pondering. Many the time my mind wanders in a similar direction. Beautiful cadence and rhyme ... I very much enjoyed this contemplative piece. Best wishes, /Kit |

Good ponderings, Rick. I went to a small reunion this year of people I grew up with. Some had died, the ones I thought to have a bright future did nothing and the dorks became rich. The pretty young girls grew up to be fat and bossy and the plain ones blossomed into beauties. Sometimes it's best to just remember them as they were... |

This time of the year seems to put many of us in a reflective mood. And September really gave me a big push to remember those in my past. Memory is a fickle thing, as I have big blanks where I should have big memories, and things that once seemed trivial, or at least not terribly important, can somehow jump out into plain view. Thank you for the memory jogger. |

I wonder about those that touched my life once. They still live in my heart. I moved so much that they are floating somewhere among the millions. I would like them to know they somehow made a difference though. I really liked this look back into time. As we mature..we always find our past relationships more important. Thank you for sharing this! Hugs! Sincerely, Regina |
