I stretched out in front of the fireplace
in just a slip, nothing more
and as I watched the flames I made a wish.
Just a silly wish, mind you, but mine
nonetheless.
The flames were your tongue, flickering
over me.  My arms free by my side waited,
I surrendered, closed my eyes
and imagined you....here...strong,
close and I
waited for you to comeā€¦to me, to hold me.
For I am now a potent magical mist
of passion that has not yet been tamed.
How I wish you were here.

Oh, I know it cannot be but all
the dreams I ever wished, all
the magic I denied, lives because
you made me feel
so much a woman.

You made me feel-
so much a woman.

Because you are so much a man.

Although I do not normally like what could be considered 'love poetry' this is very imaginative and well written. I like the image of the flames being the tongue. Very sensual writing.

Emily, I went back to find another of your poems, and this was surely worth the look. Wow. You did this with so much yearning and love.
