With a child's mind I think What is there left to discover? What mystery can I unlock? What treasure can I unearth? With pencil in hand I draw a pirate's map X marking the spot Where I am to bury my treasure Mason jar in hand I fill it with Buffalo nickels Shiny new cooper pennies Tiny machine bought toys Spade in hand I bury it beneath the sod Covering it over with dirt Placing a rock upon it Tomorrow I will dig it up Or perhaps the next day Excited that it's still there Excited that I found it Much richer for the experience [This message has been edited by Songbird (edited 11-14-2001).] |
