Thank you, Otis Redding, for the inspiration I hope you all enjoy it and thank you for your time! The ships rolled in, rolled away again on the edge of the dock, I sat. Kickin' wasted time and storybook rhyme tucked my hair up under my hat. Curled up Dockers and a cotton T sunlight moving over me I rocked there to and fro you know, to a bit of poetry. Well, I tasted heaven ummm that day every cloud was meant for me oh yes, every cloud, every shape spelled joy a joy drifting over me. Sure, why not. I had arrived! Safe and sound on the wings of chance. A thousand miles from my home On the trail of a tide and romance. A moonlight blessing was a comin' soon reinventing all my dreams So I had to make room, more room you see for everything in between. Go on, find your soul, it's alive no doubt give yourself some room to breathe Shake your tail from off that dusty road sit a spell, before you leave. I've done what I've done the hard way livin' and fightin' through hell now my soul is landed here oh, the stories I could tell! Someday a man will lift me higher oh God, I hope it's soon! come 'round to the other side of my heart hold it, stroke it, make me swoon! Open a door for me, bring me a rose or just carry me for a time (in muscular arms please but for right now…darlin' sit right next to me let's hold hands and forget the rhyme. Carolina got the pic from Grant Photography online btw this is a part of me I never wrote before..wow! [This message has been edited by Carol Lina (edited 11-21-2001).] |

This is great, Carolina! And Otis would surely be smiling at both poem and photo. I love that tune, it is very relaxing, I can hear it right now, "Sittin on the docks of the bay..." I think I'll be humming this all day. Thanks. |

As a great fan of Oatis's and a great fan of finely written poetry, I had to reply... This is great....Who knows, place a little music to it, and you may find it would make a #1 also..... ~lewisone~ |
