Close your eyes and you shall see the layers of life, the bonsai of me. Twisted branches curving gracefully, gnarled by life sagaciously. I tried to fight the twists and turns, the ties that bound, forcing me to be un-naturally me. Yet somehow in the end what you see is the true, the bonsai of me in all my twisted imagery. May the ripple of LOVE become the wave of PEACE [This message has been edited by Midnitesun (edited 11-20-2001).] |

this reminded me of being overseas in Japan when I was in the navy, neat feeling hadn't thought about bonsai in quite some time. Dennis |

a very original image here Midnitesun. . . comparing the twists and turns of life to the twists of a bonsai tree. . . if only life were as simple, or as complex. . . well done. . . ------------------------------------------------------ To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

Thank you for your comments, Sven. It takes many years and often many hands to shape a bonsai, as does life's journey. |

Dear Kacy, you know what I do see In this tree that you call “me” A lady who’s lived life to full And one who’s heart is beautiful Your eyes see laughter, hearts felt pain Your love of life will never wane In this life you take such joy (And hey, you pointed out my dear toy boy!!) I like your twisted imagery. May you always share it here If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please? |

Sandra, glad you liked it. Balladeer, LOL at your midget/mini comments. You are such a card! (Joker? or King of Hearts?) Tracey, what a sweetheart! But my twisting and turning has just begun.... And I'm smiling big time at the toy reply. Glad to see you back on board. |

Midnitesun, Appears I showed up too late to ask if this is your mini-me poem. LOL Or are you the twisted sister? ROTFLMAO Okay, okay...it is an insightful little you. I'm sorry...I just can't help myself. ROTFLMAO! [This message has been edited by Larry C (edited 11-20-2001).] |

ROTFLMAO, Larry, you twisted me outta my chair in laughter again! Now I really do look like a bonsai! Ouch, my back hurts now, just twisted a little too far that time. Twisted sister...that's an image I hadn't considered when I posted this. Should have known you would twist it around into something funny. HAHAHAHA |

And since seeing Tracey's post, I will also thank you...ya little matchmaker. Your heart is certainly not in miniature. |

James, glad you enjoyed. Yes, bonsai's are fascinating. Duncan, LOL. Calling me a yenta now, are ya? All I did was offer someone a little hint. You are to blame for the consequences. Blues Serenade, what a great comment! glad you enjoy these twists and turns. |

well, the title of this one drew me in to reading it, despite it's overworn 22 comments. for some reason i don't like reading poems that have been commented on a lot, makes me feel all mainstream and weird. but, this one, great title, first of all. and, the imagery that went with the idea -- perfect match. expression, exquisite... i feel you may have accomplished exactly what you wished for in writing this piece. again, great title. really dig the title. the title is almost a poem in and of itself. WARNING: this reader is not prone to terse, canned comments. |

Sudhir, thank you for the visit. wornways, I appreciate your candid rather than canned comments. The title projects an image I've thought about for a long time, and I have always loved the bonsai form. And I agree, a title can be worth a great picture and a thousand words. Maybe that's why I didn't call it the pretzel of me, and go with that twisted imagery. LOL. Thanks you for sharing your thoughts. Kit, I'm glad that you read and enjoyed the metaphor. Each year the metaphorically twisted physical image of me gets closer to reality when I look in the mirror or attempt to do yoga or other exercises. Pruned to perfection! I must say a clever metaphor! A wonderful interpretation to the arduous task of nurturing oneself into what they mean to be. You are unique and lovely! Sincerely, Regina It's all in the mind |

Regina, thanks for the comment. As I said elsewhere, I am this metaphor in many ways. And the bonsai offered a better visual image than a twisted pretzel. Who knows, maybe I'll still write about the twisted pretzel someday, but you'll need a mug of beer to swallow that metaphor. |

Well, I have thought of myself as a tree from time to time, or tried to, and I have given bonsai a go, but I hadn't thought of it all quite like this. But it is like this.
