Meet Me in the Moaning Cave

Meet me in the moaning cave,
Take me by the hand.
I will be your willing guide
In this adventure land.
Enter within this hearth of earth
Where touch is all that matters.
Listen to my wildly beating heart,
Drumbeats and thunder cannot compete.
Fiery ovens of Hades have less heat
Than this Love you shall meet.
No need for light in caress of night,
Crystalline ecstasy awaits you
In the arms of midnite.
Reach up and feel the power
As argonite stalactites reach down
To meet striving stalagmites,
And whispers of Love echo
In moan, you are not alone.
Meet me in the moaning cave
Where light received is light you gave,
Love and compassion, friendship so bright
In darkness of cave, no need for light.
The midnitesun will guide your heart
In the bioluminescence of Love’s delight.

Moaning Cave is in California. Impressive stalactites and stalagmites can be seen at California Cavern, (Cave City, Caliveras County CA.) For poetic reasons, I used Moaning Cave as the setting. It is a marble cave, and to go deep within the caves requires 165 ft rappel and lots of belly crawling in tight spaces. My claustrophobia and unwillingness to crawl around in tight narrow passages prevent me from going deep into this cave, which features an ascent referred to as 'Godzilla's nostrils'  Follow the link to learn more. http://www.caverntours.com/MoCavRt.htm

Peaches, you are one of my special new friends. I was just telling my 14 yr old that you would be the first to reply. And wasn't I right? Now how did I guess this one?
Thank you. You have no idea. Jaime is so special, I cannot even describe what he means to me. He is the sun and the moon to me, my starlight, my dream.

I love your eye for detail, and exceptional descriptive phrases. I admire a talent such as yours that can 'tie' emotions around the vision.

I find this ability to be exceptional!

Noah, no kidding? Perhaps you should pen some 'caveman' words, if you remember the cave vividly enough.

Startime, you are always so full of smiles and warm replies. Thank you for the 'stunning' comment.

JM, Comments like that will get you an extra hug and a gold star. Thank you very, very much. Love and caves are both so cool.

Larry, there really is a Moaning Cave, in California. There are incredible caves all over this country.

Wow, sounds like a really neat place Kacy, some great imagery here. And a wonderful write for your friend, I’m sure he is touched by it.

Midnite--Here I live in California and have never heard of this..sounds so intriguing, and the heat you put into the poem could light up the darkest cave, I think.  Lovely writing!

cool! I like the imagery, your descriptions of things in the poem. And so much love for your dear friend! I wish my friends write poems to me. Poweful words, and well expressed!

I loved this one, Kacy....it is full of vivid imagery and yet it is about a real place.....
Excellence personified...or should I say,
poetified.
either way, I sure loved it!

Tracey, there are caves all over this country, and probably near your territory. I think everyone should experience at least one cavern visit. And Jaime likes this poem too.

Martie, go caving sometime! Follow the above link and make some plans for a cave trip. And thank you for your wonderful comments.

Nancy, so glad you enjoyed this. I'm sure you would love the caverns. They are magical.

C, thank you so much. Glad you could enjoy this trip.

Aries, thanks, glad you liked the poem and the imagery.

Ivy, thank you for visiting, and for the comments.

Lyra, glad you could stop by and visit this love-cave poem. And your reply was so kind and generous.

Thank you everyone, and hope you all find a cave to visit some day.
