The heart of you

0 posted 2001-12-24 12:25 PM

For my Juliet, Merry Christmas

The gift I give to you, dear one, this day,
Is yours my love in every special way.
A gift that comes from my heart alone
To thank you for the love you’ve shown.
A gift that I gave with those first words,
Ones that were the sweetest ever heard.
Words that opened a cold and lonely heart,
To let it know that a new love would start.

You returned this gift to me dear one,
A love brighter than stars or even sun.
A love that came from a heart of life,
One that had been freed from all strife.
A love that you knew you would find
One that had never escaped your mind.
Not since one you loved so long ago,
First to you did this true love show.

So now, dear one, take this gift I give,
A love for you, for as long as I live.
A love that will give what you seek,
Answers to questions of love so meek.
A love that will be as deep as the sea,
This is the love that can come from me.
Now, these words I speak again as new,
Words for you only -- I love you.

What light through yon window breaks?  It is the east, and Juliet is the sun.

Beautifully romantic, Moonlight Romeo...wonderfully written...impressive rhyme and cadence, too!
