I think I'll have a sip of wine yet famous cups have run over; I think of setting down to dine remembering white cliffs of dover. I think wine laced cups leave marks the red liquid drops onto tablecloths, hark... I hold a modern chalice in my hands sipping drink to the nations I command. wine constantly set to whet the appetite has stained world spreads red bright; soon tea will tend to draw appeals when that drips to surfaces, it too anneals. Is there no liquid that does not stain is their no joy that can't remain; alas...there rests the crossing of world channels we sip at tables and blood spills go unhandled. Wonderfully imagry. I like the references to WWII and the political implication here. It is said that poets are the record keepers of the tenure of the times. Nice piece. |

Thanks amusemi, took a bit of weaving and voila..amazing how the mind works though, this started out just as a reference to drink and their stains |

Wonderful poem again, Martin... This happens to me also....I start a poem with one idea and it runs away from me. Before I know it...I have written a poem which is completely different from the idea I started with. I have about 50 or 60 unfinished poems sitting around because of that. One day, I will take those ideas and spin them into some new poems. I really enjoyed this. copyright2001 Lyra Nesius |

(sigh) Me too, sweet Martin, I have a hundred or more archived incomplete thoughts of poems still in the works, and I am not sure if they will ever be shared or not! (big hugggssssss) Soooooo wonderfully expressed, dearest friend, we all love you so very much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Martin, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton |

Please do Mdme Chipmunk..I love this name now it sounds so busy, like chipmunks are supposed to be...I think if you were to pull out the ones that were no longer fresh be surprised what twist you may put on them. Did you see mine on Fruit and Issues, well I got that by building on the poem I wrote about Watermelon and Issues...just changed the fruit and worked in another aspect of life or politics. Noah, you can do the same, often when the poem is no longer fresh in the head, you've had a chance to think of new ideas that you might use to build up on an older poem. Call it recycling if you will. [This message has been edited by ecrivan (12-23-2001 10:22 PM).] |
