Making parties to cure company blues
at Xmas time bosses watch their crews;
today some bosses remember Holiday occasions
not every manager wants a standing ovation.

It is a chance for cultures to meet in other places
to light menorahs and leave peace in traces.
can't figure out the last mad rush for season's gifts
thoughtfulness should exist the year over and not be missed.

Billions of dollars are being spent today
and Canadian economists are glad it's that way;
but still at arm's length is the person on the street
of those singular times, many know not how to greet.

I enjoyed this one very much, Martin,
especially this paragraph:

"It is a chance for cultures to meet in other places
to light menorahs and leave peace in traces.
can't figure out the last mad rush for season's gifts
thoughtfulness should exist the year over and not be missed."

I like that you mentioned the other cultures and I agree about the shopping.  I could never figure out why it all has to be at this time of year.  I used to own a retail store...and it seems that they do 90% of their business in December...and they have to order all of their Christmas merchandise in July.  That seems very lopsided to me...
but then again....we live in a lopsided society.
Great work!
