The crescendo, a distant memory,
as the piano plays on ever so softly,
with sullen sounds emanating from the keys
from the soft touch of ebony and ivory

The empathizing notes know too well
how to latch onto feelings you can’t dispel
Keeping you mired in its emotive tune
as your tears fall beneath the icy moon

Preying on your weakened and battered spirit
Only your last breathe will make it remit
As the musical notes imbue your spine
Slumped over ~ it plays endlessly in your mind

And when the last tear traverses down your face,
and the swan sails off with beauty and grace,
the harps will then join in the finale
Allowing your tormented soul to be set free

This poem is so very beautiful, Dave...
I really loved the imagery...
and I am so glad that you came over here to this site to post some of your poetry.
and now, I can make all of your nightmares come true with my snotty replies
but this one is just too good!
Please write a bad one...so I can at least be a little bit sarcastic.
You are making things very difficult for me by posting such beautiful poems!

Thanks Martin, and happy holidays to you as well.  By the way, I can't believe the queen needs somebody to change her lightbulbs.  That is riduculous.

Lyra - You are too funny.  Believe me I have plenty of bad writes.  I can send you some via e-mail if you like.  They are all on my hard drive just dying for someone to read them.lol

Wow, the faces here are very lively.  I am not sure if I can handle all this action.

Thanks for reading.

Dave darling boy, Okay lock me up For you dear heart I'll bring out the handcuffs

This poem it is UTTERLY utterly fabulous, I adore the images in this. Why do you have to write sooooooooooo incredibly well love.
I still say there is a conspiracy afoot, you are all in league against me to make me sob. Well that is it, you now have to make me smile or else I'll be round to see you.
This is said in my best whisper in a menacing manner You are not supposed to go around turning the lights down low, and arranging a cosy meal for two. But if you're offering tea, I only drink it in the morning
(wink)
I love it this really is absolutely beautiful

Dave,
well, well...look what the duckling did...became a Swan that captured my heart, as did the music in the write.

Dave,

This was such a beautiful piece.  I could feel the bittersweet angst flowing through each line.  I've been to this very place before, and I know what it's like to have a broken, tired heart.  But there's always an end to the pain, somwhere, somehow ... and that's what we always look forward to.  It's hard to move on, but life doesn't stand still when you're hurting.  I'm glad you shared this one.  Thanks .

P.S. I'm enjoying your use of faces again .

Marsha - I get the tea kettle on the stove right now.

I can't believe you figured out the conspiracy about all of us trying to make you sob.   I guess we will have to come up with a new scheme.  Maybe, laughter?  Actually, that can lead to tears as well.   I will think of something.  In the mean time, put those handcuffs on.

Dave darling boy Okay you're on.

This is an unashamed bump, I'm sure you realise that there's no self bump, a shame but never mind. (So I'll give you one kid..... No darling boy I meant a bump)

I still say this is incredibly beautiful, you really do have such a wonderful way with words. Besides I want everyone to have a chance to see this, so I'm sending it back to the top.

Now about that cuppa, Mmmmm I'll be over as soon as I can.

Wonderful writing as always well done
