~ Turkey Dinner ~

The table looks so pretty with the crystal and cutlery
And everyone is waiting for the appearance of the turkey
It's a special bird this year she even had a name
I've been feeding her daily and I called her Little Jane
I bought her in July when she was really quiet small
And I've been looking after her ever since the early fall
Now everyone is ready, they want to take a bite
Now is the time to tell them all about Little Janey's fight

Jane was a curious bird she wanted to poke and pry
Sometimes she made me laugh so much that I would even cry
She would wander all around as tame as she could be
And I even think that in her way she was fond of me
She'd come when I called her, she answered to her name
Sometimes when she felt like it she'd play a little game
Nothing very difficult she didn't do tricks or things
But she did like to play hoopla, she had a set of rings

She used to wander behind me and help me out a bit
When I was polishing silver on the table there she'd sit
She'd chatter rather noisily, and I would gobble back to her
And when I was making soup she'd give the pot a stir
Can I tell you a little secret? Will you promise not to shout
I couldn't do the dirty deed I simply bottled out
How could I kill her, just what was I supposed to do?
Could you kill your little friend? Come on tell me true

How was I supposed to execute her? How is it done?
I know I could have shot her but I haven't got a gun
Was I supposed to bash her up, maybe hit her on her head?
But I just couldn't do it I couldn't kill my Janey dead
So I've got a frozen substitute I hope that they can't tell
There's surely nothing to notice it has a delightful smell
I'm sorry for my deception about as sorry as I can be
But not so sorry that I'd let them all gobble up my Janey

Ah, that neverending story.....girl meets turkey, girl raises turkey, girl falls in love with turkey. Has any love story ever been so poignant?

My heart goes out to you and your turkey, mushy one.

(sigh) Oh my gosh, I couldn't help but cry reading this, I know just how you feel and so happy you got a frozen one! (smiles) I too am in love with almost every animal; your love for sweet Janey shines in this beautiful poem! (kiss on cheek) God Bless You, sweet friend, you are a true angel and delight to us all! Have the happiest holidays, sweet friend! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Marsha, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

I so wanted something to happen for Jenny, and it did.  There is nothing like love.  Even for a turkey.  I'm so proud of you and your story.  What a delightful and delicious tale.  And such a happy ending.          Your friend.  Rog

Oh Marsha!!!!!!
First I cried and cried because I thought you were so heartless to buy Janey and raise her just to kill her and eat her

Then I laughed and laughed because of your little trick that you played.

All in all, this is a terrific poem...and I heartily applaud you
for writing it.

'Deer dear heart well, you know once you have a turkey by your side, nothing else is quite the same.
I mean really there it sits gobbling all night long, it just stole my heart away. What can i say it talks my language
