Leaving was not a choice, I am sure

My heart stopped as you turned, walked out.
The click of the lock deafened my ears.

I see snow covered peaks beyond sight
A chilling wind blowing through me.
A desolate plain of weeds and thorns
A seldom used path calling me forth.

I will journey far beyond this place
as my lost heart seeks you to find.
I will not rest, no sleep will it grace
as you consume my being, my tattered mind.
