When I'm down and feeling blue And it seems as if there's nothing I can do I get up and turn my radio on And listen to my favorite songs The music has a soothing beat The next thing I know I'm moving my feet As I listen to the words of the song I hum aloud and sing along As each word comes from out of my mouth The pains from inside me start to drift out There's a calming peace that takes over my soul No more is my heart black as coal For the music has given me a new sense of satisfaction And now my thoughts are no longer distractions And when the song is about to end I feel love, family, and friends once again Peaches |

Music soothes the soul and provides a healing balm for wounds too deep to be touched by human hands. You are so right peaches. Loved this one. All writing comes |

Yes, listening to music can be soothing and healing. I like to listen to U2, Hootie and the Blowfish, Carlos Nakai, Kitaro, Habib Koite, Seals and Crofts, Tangerine Dream, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky, Chuck Lange, and many, many others (including a few Marilyn Manson tunes on Mechanical Animals album, which seems to frustrate a few people who don't really listen to the words.) "Music soothes the savage beast" I don't remember who said it first, but it's a truth often repeated. [This message has been edited by Midnitesun (edited 11-16-2001).] |

You know, listening to music truly does heal us, especially when we sing at the top of our voices as if the whole world is not there. But if it doesn't work, we could still throw the radio at someone. hehe I'm not making light of this poem, this is just a thought... |

peaches, I love music I don't watch tv.. I come home from work and the radio goes on.. and doesn't go off until I leave for work the next day... Music helps for every mood. Loud, fast angry music if I'm in a bad mood... soft sad love songs if I'm sad.. (helps me have that good cry we all need to have sometimes) For the most part though (much to Dave's horror lol) I'm a country music chick (I would put in the smilie with the cowboy hat.. but I don't know how?) Well look at me this morning.. I must be in a rambling mood... anyway.. the point to all this was.. I like the poem hehe. Hugs, Tara "My heart is like an open book, for the whole world to read" |
