Like the child waiting in the night
Form warm hands and arms to wrap themselves
Around her loneliness;
To spend herself in tears of sudden safety--
And of love.
I, Too, in the dark aloneness  of self-unloved,
Unanchored, abandoned, and denied,
Still summon with silent child cries
The ancient hope--
The old sure magic of wantedness.
The child still lives in me,
With that eager hurt of innocence
Bewildered, and betrayed.
Ah,  that painful paradox,
To sense the rescue,
And know there is none.
But--
Driven by old dreams,
Pale yet powerful
Wanting the soft dear touch of love
I wait.
One waits.
One always waits.
It is forgotten--
The nameless need
The years have been beaten from my wasted heart.
But-
Like some unshaped primeval force
It beckons,
Crowds my reality
Blunts stiff reason
And I am grotesque with helpless wanting
Turning my mind inwards,
Backwards.
Dull, too, is the pain with young memories
That weaken and defy,
Submit,
Then die.
I do not live,
I wait in such unhope.

Sea,  Hi dear.  I am glad you stopped by to read this,  but don't get yourself too overly concerned.  I am o.k.  You know me,  I always come out on top.  I am hurting right now, but I also know that these feelings will pass.  I go through the pain every year at this time.  I guess it is a little more intense this year because my husband is ill and I'm not sure what the holidays will be like for us.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Lisann, I know just how you feel, and my heart goes out to you! (big hugggssssss) I too always feel sad every now and then because I want to be loved and dream so much, but I know deep down these times will pass as long as you hold hope close to your beating heart! (kiss on cheek) We all love you so much, sweet friend, our hearts are always with you! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Lisann, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Wow,  I had no idea I would receive such a response for this poem. Thank you everyone for you replies, it really means a lot to me, particularly at this time of year.
Mistletoe Angel, you have a beautiful heart.  I can't believe words like that are coming from a man.  Wow.  Sorry,  I didn't mean any offense by that,  I just mean that most men are too timid to show any emotion and yet you have written such a beautiful response and you show your heart with each one of your writings.
