I was looking at your pictures-
The house, the yard, the trees-
The flowerbeds were blooming
Blossoms swaying in the breeze...

The children smiled so sweetly-
Their joy was plain to see...
But I sense there's something missing,
And I wonder if it's me?

I can smell the coffee brewing,
And bacon in the pan...
I can see you brush a wayward lock
Aside with your left hand...

Your neck looks so enticing-
Just begging for a kiss...
The river bank for walking...
I believe would be pure bliss.

Again I look them over...
There's an emptiness I see-
An element is missing...
And I wonder if it's me?

Probably. This is a poignant poem, John. I hope you have family around you for the holidays, or warm and generous friends.
I wish you peace and happy days, always.

John, this is a touching write. Such a gentle longing.

John, I can hear this as a country song, if it isn't already -- very marketable title and concept with nice rhyme and meter.

I am sure that at this time of the year we look around ourselves and question many things. My heart goes out to you, dear one. I hope you are surrounded by all the love that family can give you. **hugs**

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

What a lovely poem with it's reflection and "what if" questioning. I do so enjoy your writing.

I echo Tracey in saying how much I love your writing.  And, this does indeed sound like a country ballad.
Enjoyed.  Hugs, Nancy.

We all have to make our own decisions and follow our own paths in life as a result... I'd expect we all question the wisdom of those choices we made long ago... Your words are an exceptional exploration of these feelings, m'friend...
