The Perfect Pose

If I could paint such loveliness
as you, I’d be so very proud.
My artwork, on display, would bring
a hefty price, adoring crowd.

But how on canvas to portray
the feeling I get when we talk,
the smiles and laughter that you cause,
the warmth of hands as we both walk?

Though artist, I’m not good enough,
to paint devotion that I feel,
to capture scent, the taste of lips,
so many hues to make you real.

You’re so much more than physical.
I’ll put my brush back in its case.
I’d rather sit and talk awhile,
drown in your eyes, explore your grace.

I understand that feeling well. But do not put away your brushes just yet, for I have found that they stiffen when not used, and the longer they sit, the harder they get, and the harder they get, the stiffer my fingers get, not to mention the tube's flow of paint seems to dry up when not used regularly. But words can paint such a wonderful portrait it is tempting to ignore the canvas. Now I am rambling.

Congratulations on a picturesque 2000 post.
