Songs from a Lighthouse I write tonight by glow of a lantern from my post high above the Pacific, songs of eventide, until your return, composed of constellations of the eye. Only a piano for companionship, angry skies and seas battle in concert, tunes arranged by way of accompaniment, haunting crescendos ride a hurricane. On the Adriatic where your ship sails, guided under Mediterranean stars, a palm’s love-line tipped by Libran scales, swims in currents of indecision. Another sunrise greets through stellar windows, ever-circling from craggy cliff and sand, ‘cross foggy fingers of oceans indigo, warning the dangers of St. George’s Reef. I wait for you still, in this lighthouse tower, where isolation couples with the landscape, chances of your return lessen by the hour, lure of your sea mistress, stronger than mine. © 2001 Corinne Bailey |

Corinne--it's true, for some the sea is a mistress hard to leave. What wonderful atmesphere you have captured in the longing played in the lighthouse. Much enjoyed! |

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Corrine, this was sucha sad yearning! (sigh) I know how it must feel not to leave the sea, for I love the ocean and dream of living there with my love. (sad sigh) I hope your love answered your cry and the lighthouse lit your way to eternal love, for your golden heart deserves the most beautiful love! (sigh) Sooooooo well-written, sweet Corrine, we all love you so very much! (kiss on cheek) You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Corrine, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton |

The sea, a hard lady to compete with at times. Yet the cold winds and the bitter waters always bring a man back to the warm embrace of his lovers arms. Beautifully wrote! HUGS Ter. Alone in the dark, through my thoughts comfort I do seek, through my words I find peace. |

Hey Park - got me smiling now, good to see you here again! You've been away too long! You must be getting pretty darned cold up there by this time of year, plenty of snow I'll bet, too! Thanks! Corinne |

I liked this poem even though there were lines I did not understand. There is a lovely lyricism to it, and a quiet saddness that is not reduced for being quiet. Glenn Logan |

No snow in my little pocket of snow country. North and away from lake Ontario it is. The lake effect seems to protect use from too many dumps. The Niagra Escarpment which runs from Niagra Falls to some place far up north is just east of the Toronto area where I live and it redirects all the big storms south. To dump on our US neighbours in Buffalo, poor folks their always digging out every winter. But if I want lots of snow I just have to go north or east about 1.5 hours to the snow belts. As things are looking we won't have a white christmas, but winter has a way of surpriseing us just before the 25th. Park |

Park, good to hear it isn't too cold up there! Have a great holiday, you hear? Marge, thank you kindly, lady. It's been awhile since I pondered lighthouses, must be about time to visit one again, eh? Corinne |
