Little Lucie had a predicament that challenged her intellect,
She’d posed herself a problem and she was circumspect.
So she called me over to her place on that Sunday morn
And when I got there I found her crying, hopeless and forlorn.

“Oh, Long John,” she cried gratefully, “You came to help me out!
“I have this puzzle on the table, the hardest beyond a doubt.
“And while the picture of the Tiger seems so perfectly clear,
“I can’t even solve the border, and neither can Balladeer!”

(It’s true, Balladeer was there, acting just  like a typical man,
Unsuccessfully solving Lucie’s problems because he didn’t understand.)

I looked at the box and looked at the pieces, strewn in disarray,
And a smile played across my lips as I turned to Lucie to say,
“I think I see your problem, Lucie, I know just what to do,
And I know this problem is something that could only puzzle you.”

Lucie cried gratefully, “Longjohn, you’re wonderful, the best!”
As she flung herself into my arms and sobbed upon my chest.
I gently stroked her long blonde hair til her sobbing died away,
And came again to her rescue, like on so many other days.

(I had to throw this BS in just to get at Balladeer,
I know he’ll chafe at these words that I’ve written here.)

“Now Lucie, just relax a bit, I’ll carefully put these pieces away,
“While you get me a cup of coffee and let me patiently explain,
“While the Tiger on the puzzle box is drawn really GRRREAT,
“I think you’d be happier eating these frosted flakes.”

Heh - That lil Lucie is as sweet as a honeysuckle, and just about as smart, too!

I didn't get it...

Perhaps Balladeer can explain it to me in private?

Thank you all for appreciating this true story of Lucie and 'Deer woes.  I especially like that starve-to-death quote.  Ol' 'Deer got hurt with that one.  heh

Hey there, 'Deer - you old scalawag

There is always "The Pancake House"   Oh, you are such a brat, but you know that right?  Very cute "tail" indeed. LOL  (as in Tiger's tail, so don't even go there!)

Is that a blonde joke?...it had better not be.

When you get that tiger in your tank it truly makes you toar
but you must have been tanked if you think I ain't heard that one before.

LongJohn...I've just been here a short while and have only had the pleasure of reading one other of your poems...but I gather that you and balladeer are friends of some sort or another...otherwise, you wouldn't write such wonderful poetry about him.
All that aside,
I loved your poem even if it was just a bit flakey

Boatsman Silver,
You weave a fine lanyard with words, but wonder at the story,
Shirley they must have been jesting you, mayhaps in testing you,
Which you seem to have risen to with a semblance of glory.
But now I see the reference to your so said Beauty,
And also the picture posted and I must say I’m sorry
For the evidence is like you said, you’re no cutie.

Madame - lol@flakey - great shot that one, and right on the mark!...  I'm in here and then I'm gone - I have written a few other poems, some serious, some flakey.  If you are interested, please feel free to use the Search feature.

As for that scalawag Balladeer...just between you and me, I think the world of that guy, and we have traded many shots over the last 30 months or so.  He's a great guy, and he's learned so much from me since I started teaching him. heh, that'll get him going  Please use the Search feature for his works.  He is terrific, and tells a whale of a story.  My favorite remains "Statue in Central Park," which 'Deer posted way back in #1.  That is not to say he hasn't written some other fantastic poetry, but that poem is still my favorite.

When my muse takes off for the Bahamas (which the lil vixen loves to do) I usually write jokes in a poetic style just to flex my fingers and pop my knuckles.  It helps bring her back from her days in the Sun.  This poem is an example.  The challenge is to deliver the punch line in the last line of the last verse, and not tip it off.  Try it, it's fun.  But, keep it clean, as you never know when somebody's kids might be here to read your work.

Thanks for reading my poetry.  I hope you enjoy.

Bill - LOL@cutie.  This is very true.  I'm no cutie, despite whatever Lucie might say to the contrary.  As I said before, wecome to PiP.

Ah, sailor... contrary to what Deer might think, you present even the stalest jokes (and no, ya ole scalawag, I'm not meaning Deer or Lucie, so don't even go gettin' me in trouble! LOL) in a refreshing, delightful manner... Well done... I greatly enjoyed!
