Sometimes our emotions become the better part of being so human. Oh tear I fear Of waterfalls of emotions that don’t stop Draining into a vacuum of hope Where light peeks out at you Piercing the hearts pride In shriveling shreds of self respect To pump the heart up in false hopes Of self healing hurts So tear don’t start my flow Let the desert sun burn it dry To float among the power blue sky In whips of pure thoughts Racing with the torrents of wild winds Pushing the sagebrush along To then whirl in a dance of emotions That makes love love Oh tear, do not make me a clown With a tear in one and none in the other For my mind will surely crack Into each half demanding more And in the battle Dark in light Will take the black out of the white Silence in sound Will blare out of nothing Space in a vacuum Will shine stars out of something not there And in all the confusion of my roller coater I became so real as to care With any face on D.Lester Young (12/8/01) Tuscaloosa, AL Copyright © D.Lester Young (White Eagle poetry) |
