~*~ Let There Be Peace On Earth ~*~

Everyone of all ages are counting the days,
Wrapping presents bought with love,
In pretty wired ribbon and bright, shiny paper.
Actually we are wrapping up hopes and dreams,
As we search for true Christmas mirth.

It started so long ago, this feeling of joy,
And in the midst of all of today’s madness,
We have forgotten to stop and reflect on history.
We need to rediscover the reason, the purpose,
The first night that lent this season its joy.

This world today is spinning so fast,
Forgotten the tiny Baby born so very long ago.
The Baby so surrounded with love,
That He so changed the world.
They came from near and far just to see him.

The Three Wise Men bowed and gave
This small child their gifts on the
Very first Christ~*~mas Day.
Today, there are those who scorn that baby,
His worth, not respecting believer’s rights.

There are still those priceless gifts to be found,
The love and joy once given from the three wise men.
Just take a minute, stop shopping, and go look for it.
These gifts cannot be bought at the local mall,
Or wrapped in pretty paper and ribbons.

These presents can only be wrapped in arms,
Felt in an open soul and a pure heart.
If you look at the true meaning of Christmas,
True presents are family, friends, good food,
Togetherness, happiness, health, and faith.

Maybe we should take a moment this holiday season,
Look around us, and take inventory of our blessings.
So much poverty, sadness, and separation of humanity.
When really in the end, we all leave this world,
Exactly the same way we came into it, like that Baby.

If I could get what I wanted in a box,
Wrapped in pretty shiny paper, it would be but one wish…
One tiny glimpse of what Peace on Earth might look like,
Then when I said “Merry Christmas”,
I could mean it, and do it with a clear conscience.

~* Merry Christmas *~

~* Happy Chaunaka *~

~* Happy Ramadan *~

to each and every one of you and your family!

May your holidays be filled with love, laughter and memories to treasure.

Thank you so much for that beautiful card, Mysteria...this is a very special time of year and I am thankful that you included the non-christian religions in your card also.
I am Jewish and when I was growing up, it was so difficult to see everyone's beautifully decorated trees while I had to suffice with just lighting a menorah.
Beautiful card...beautifully written poem.
Thanks again!
