Lucie Spoils Some Fun By Larry Chadwick Came staggering out of the woods one day, It wasn’t because I really knew how to play. Could hardly believe that I had survived, I just knew I was glad to still be alive. You wouldn’t believe what I’d been through, But I have to confess what it was I had to do. Strolling through the woods without one care, Minding my own business when up popped a bear. As you can imagine I took off running for my life, Somewhere along the trail I dropped my knife. But the growl of that bear kept my heart in fear, All I wanted was to just get far away from there. With my pellet pistol in my hand I fired a shot, I didn’t even look back to see what I got. Stuck the gun over my shoulder and shot the thing, Hoping, of course, that the bear would feel a sting. So as I ran I shot the pistol again and again, In the hopes the bear would finally give in. I was only ten what did you expect me to do, Kept it up ‘til all my pellets I had gone through. So I must confess it was then that I fell on my knees, And with my eyes toward heaven I made my pleas. I heard the voice of the bear I recognized so plain, I realized it was Lucie and she had gone insane. I’m sorry for all of the harm I had innocently done, My original intent was to go to the woods for fun. How was I to know what Lucie planned for me, She’s just a great big bully, I’m sure you agree.
