Mama and daddy were fighting
Night after night after night
It didn't matter how long they fought
They could never decide who was right
One day mama had enough
And she packed her clothes in a case
My heart sank into my toes
When mama left our place
I ran down the road behind her
Screaming for her to wait
But mama just kept walking
I couldn't keep up with her gait
Mama bought a ticket
Where to, I don't know
The only thing that mattered
Was that I didn't want her to go
"Mama, get off that train!"
My face was damp with tears
The train door opened, mama went in
Like she didn't even hear
Nothing I could say or do
Was going to make her stay
And I never saw mama again
Since that awful day

My parents had a pretty ugly divorce. I see mom now and again, but she lives so far away..."sigh". This poem made me cry, it was so emotional. I really liked it. Thanks for the read.

LadySofia... I'm so sorry you don't seem your mother as often as you would like. My parents are together, and I'm always grateful of that. I'm so glad you liked my poem.

Marge... I'm really enjoying writing these poems. I've been away from poetry too long, and now I remember how much fun it is!

Andrea... I'm so glad that you liked it. It wasn't my mama, but I'm sure that there would be some sad circumstances where something like this would happen. Like I said earlier, I'm always grateful that I have both my parents, and they're always there when I need them.
