The Shores of Alone

He tasted of beer
many nights there was nothing left
but the residue of bitter hops
sour grain-and very lttle love.

He tasted of cigarettes
many nights there was nothing left
but the residue of embers
dusty ash-and very little love.

He tasted of stale coffee
many nights there was nothing left
but cheap dreams
unfulfilled hopes-and very litte love.

He tasted of meat
burgers which represented death to me
(a vegetarian, non smoker, repelled by beer)
but he also tasted of lust
many nights thats all there was
fierce, hot gasping for air passion
and very little love.

I tasted of the champagne he poured into me
that I might live within his
frame of reference
and I absorbed it
for a short time flew sideways
into his unusual space.

He gave me little
only joy of country music
and rough nights
and the ability to see the sparkle
behind hardened eyes
Very little love-but at the time
it was enough..

I took a walk around the world to ease my troubled mind-I left my body lying somewhere in the sands of time. (3 Doors Down)

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Sandra, I'm so so sorry to hear this; this breaks my heart to see the vision of the love you thought you knew, feeling the sorrow of your heart. (big hugggsssss) My heart is always with you, sweet friend, and I know deep down there is a true love meant for you so heavenly and so pure, which is sweet and compassionate to your heart. (sigh) Such a sad and heartwrenching reminiscence! I love you, sweet friend, and I believe in you always! (kiss on cheek) You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sandra, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Sandra,
So sad, but beautifully penned. Sometimes even the smallest of things, have to be enough...

You know this is very vivid, I almost smelled this man!  Sandra, this is a great write.

Sandra this piece just aches to be picked up and held. There are times when very little love...is enough.  But!  Oh so much more is out there waiting!

sometimes, we do only get what we need. . .

from the heart. . .

Made me wonder why sometimes we settle for so much less than we truly want.  This guy sounds like he was a real 'stinker'.  Great write, Sandra.

I know this type of wrong guy. Really messes with your heart. So sad we let them. But sure makes us appreciate the real thing. This was written with excellence Sandra. Stirred up a lot of memories. Hang in there sweetie. Some guy's gonna have 31 really nice flavors for you to choose from! Hugs!

Sincerely,
Regina

well I like beer, burgers, little country music now and then..loud harley pipes..

and a fine merlot, walks along the beach with violin music drifting from a gypsy bow

or just hugg talkin by a fire for months of hours..

2 out of 3 ain't bad?  (grin)

heavy tunes in the write lady....I feel the sorrow and the hope that the good stuff was just around the corner..
