If Only Love

If only love
was as simple as a kiss.
I can do that well.
My lips touching hers
in silky tenderness.

If only love were
as simple as a hug.
I'm good at that.
Why can't that be love?

If only love was as
simple as a touch.
I certainly wish
that was love
because I can never
be touched enough.

If only love was as
simple as a smile.
I'd smile for you
and I'd love you too
until all your
dreams come true.

If only love was a
simple act of caring
then I would already
be in love with you
and this would be love
that we are sharing.

A good reflective love poem, James. Love is never simple, is it? It's never been simple for me anyway, except in a general sense. One-to-one romantic love is probably the hardest thing on earth to explain, the whys and wherefores seem to vary with each couple. And to actually have and hold onto? I hope that you will be one of the lucky ones.
If only I had a better reply.
