I am a green tomato pie My tomatoes were picked green They were so green they were still a little bitter So the baker had to add a lot of sugar Then to give me a better flavor He added some cinnamon Stirred me up nice Poured me inside a flaky crust Placed me into a preheated oven Where I began to permeate the air Almost as good as an ordinary apple pie When I was brown, juicy and bubbly I suddenly was snatched from the oven Left to cool on a table And surprise Someone thought I was good enough to eat So they sliced me up Then passed me all around Some did oooh and some did aaah And some said What kind of pie is this? |

Mmmmmmmmmmm...yummy! (smiles) Your heart is one of the sweetest pies of all, sweet and compassionate as the love you always share with us all! (smiles) Mmmmmmm...sometime I need to try some of that pie! (big hugggssssss) We all love you, sweet friend! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Songbird, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton |

Aha, another green tomatoe fan. YIPPEE! I like them fried with butter and onion and garlic, served with chips and salsa or quesadillas. YUM! But I haven't made them into a pie...time to grab a recipe book, next summer maybe. Nice poem, Songbird. |

Ooh wow!! You're making me hungry *eyes the salad in the fridge* Anywayz, I like this poem. It's so cute, and kinda funny, esp. "some did ooh and some did ahh" hehe... And I didn't know green tomatoes were bitter. In fact, I don't recall seeing green tomatoes... OOPS! |

Thanks, guys! It made me laugh too.. My mother could really make some delicious ones, you basically follow the receipe for an apple pie, but add more sugar. I don't like fried green tomatoe's but I love the pie. The poem in a sense is an analogy of all of us.. we all have our quirks about us that could use a little sweetning. And some people will oooh and aaah us and there are always people who will turn their noses up at us regardless if think us odd or different, that I guess is the whole point of the poem. |
